There are many fantastic home locations in Utah that can give you access to some of the best outdoor recreational facilities that the state has to offer. And Utah homebuilders are developing excellent communities in these locations, where you can live a happy, healthy life and lay down roots close to nature and the beautiful outdoor world that we’re lucky to have here in Utah. So this year it’s time to pack up your favorite home decorations and settle down in some of the best places to live in Utah for a healthy outdoor life.

Lehi, UT 

Being just 30 minutes south of Salt Lake City, Lehi is already a great place to live if you commute downtown for work. But as well as close proximity to a major city, Lehi has a ton of other great attributes to draw you in. For one thing, it sits on the 45 mile Jordan River Trail that stretches along the Jordan River from Utah Lake to Great Salt Lake, giving fantastic access to nature. With both paved and equestrian trails, it can be a great spot for jogging or hiking, or for you and your family to get out for a walk.

The Jordan River Trail also features a Water Trail, where you can paddle in a kayak or canoe to experience nature in a fun and relaxing way. There are several launches along the route, where you can put in your kayak or canoe, including at Willow Park, Lehi.

Lehi is also ideally located for access to Utah Lake, where you can also explore on the water, whether it’s by kayak, canoe or paddle board.

As well as this, you’re only a short distance from the Wasatch Mountains if you want some winter sports adventures or mountain hiking or biking. As for Lehi itself, there are several community parks, fitness centers and medical centers to keep you in tip top shape all year round.

Highland, UT

Not far from Lehi, Highland, UT can be an idyllic place to live if you’re looking to be close to outdoor adventure as well as have the convenience of plenty of amenities nearby. Practically on your doorstep in Highland is American Fork Canyon, with its range of hiking, biking and equestrian trails to let you to get out and explore the natural wilderness of the Utah’s Wasatch Mountains. One of the most popular hiking trails in the Utah mountains is up to Mount Timpanogos. You can access the main trail from the Timpooneke Campground, just off the Alpine Loop Scenic Byway.

Highland also has plenty of community parks, with ponds and outdoor space where you can get fresh air with your family or even do a spot of fishing with the kids. There are also several trails running through Highland, which can be ideal for a morning jog, family stroll or walking your dog. If none of that excites you, perhaps a game of golf is more your thing. There are two golf courses in Highland and plenty more in the surrounding area if you need a change of scenery.
